Ethnodramatherapy Training Institute Services
Through both online and in-person workshops, Dr. Snow and qualified staff offer trainings, consultation and supervision in EDT.
Online and In-person Trainings are in four formats:
-
Tutorials (3 hours), 1-Day, 3-Day and 6-Day
-
One-on-one Supervision is available to all Certificate candidates
ETI offers three levels of certification
Here are the requirements:
1
Level 1:
A trainee must have completed, either in person or online, two 30-hour EDT workshops, or 60 hours of EDT training in any format. In addition, the candidate must also have completed at least 30 hours of EDT-related training (psychodrama, sociodrama, playback theatre, DvT, improvisational acting, etc.). Within a three-month framework, the trainee must direct a 30-hour ethnodramatherapy process that culminates in a brief improvised ethnodrama with a post-performance forum. During this process, the trainee must complete a minimum of 5 hours of supervision with an Institute Supervisor. The trainee must also present a report with video and/or photographs of the performance. After successfully completing these tasks, the trainee would be certified as an “Assistant Director-in-Training.”**
2
Level 2:
For level 2, the trainee would need to complete, at minimum, another 30 hours of EDT-related training and, within a five-month framework, develop and realize a 60-hour EDT project. This endeavor would require a minimum of 5 hours of supervision with Institute staff. Again, a report on process, performance and post-performance forum must be submitted and, along with all documentation, this must include a section on how research was utilized in the process. The candidate for 2nd-level certification would be asked to present her or his project at the Annual EDT Symposium. The successful completion of these tasks would qualify the trainee as “Director of EDT.”
3
Level 3:
For level 3, within a six-month framework, the candidate would be required to create a 75-hour EDT project, as well as complete a full report on their project. This report would include a section on research that provides clear qualitative and/or quantitative evidence of the project’s effectiveness in regard to educational and/or therapeutic value. During the process, the candidate would also need to complete a minimum of 5 hours of supervision with Institute staff. For level 3 certification, the trainee must also take an exam based on the book, Ethnodramatherapy (Routledge 2022). Successful completion of these tasks earns the trainee the title of “Trainer/Supervisor of EDT.”

**On attaining the first-level certification, the trainee can become a member of the Institute, if they so wish.
